The Death Song of the Proabort Pundit

This morning I saw a quote from a prochoicer that stated 'abortion is a sign of failure'. That person is absolutely correct. But who's failure is it? With me, it was my failure as a 17 year old to not stand my ground with my mother. It was also my mother's failure as a parent and grandparent trying wipe her hands of the financial responsibility of her grandchild. It was the failure of the Church to say nothing about abortion, it's silence deafening. It was the failure of a nation that allowed Roe to be law. It was the failure of the Supreme Court to side with Sarah Weddington who seems to know what's best about unplanned and/or unwanted pregnancy.

Yes, abortion is a dismal failure. And we see it everyday on the faces of women and girls who think abortion is their only option. Experts in addiction say that there is a 'rock bottom' that addicts have to get to in order to get clean, to survive. I do not agree, and I've been on the other side of addiction. On this side, you see misery and hatred and emptiness and just one step from death. Then, are we to just wait until death is imminent or intervene with love and Jesus NOW?

Then, shouldn't we acknowledge that abortion is rock bottom and that an intervention could have saved BOTH the mother and the child's life? Jesus is always the answer to every question. But they need ears to hear: "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" [Rom 10:14].

In ministry, everyday is an adventure, everyday is an opportunity. Probably the most prayed prayer for me is asking God to send us someone to witness to, someone who needs a word from the Lord, someone who needs to hear that she's important to God.

But every once in a great while, a proabort pundit will show up on the sidewalk. They think abortion is the answer to every question. They scream at women entering that chop shop with pathetic 'I support your choice' rhetoric. Does the proabort pundit know that most women don't make this choice for herself? Does she know the order of command that forced her there that day? I wonder if this proabort pundit thought that her words would get her the high five she wanted. I'd say NO. Rather, she gets stunned looks of grief because of her failure who believes the only answer is to kill the unborn life within her.

This whole Planned Parenthood issue has brought out the demons that surround the Pink Palace of death. Every blog I read or comments on news stories are laced with filthy obscenities and lies. I expect this to happen on the sidewalk but when I'm out shopping while wearing a prolife tshirt OR proabort drivers hating my life and God affirming stickers on my car? How dare I save lives and show the love of Jesus!

The Word says: "For your sake, we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter," [Rom 8:36].

Take a breath, take one for the team, show the love of Jesus.

Dear Proabort Pundit - This is a public sidewalk. You may come here just like we can! ABSOLUTELY! But I challenge you with this: Offer real help and hope to pre-abortive women and post-abortive women because your usual I SUPPORT YOUR CHOICE vomit will not pay her rent, will pay for groceries, will not get her a ride to work, and will not help her support system. Abortion won't pay her bills, so will you step up and help her when she finds out you're a LIAR? Abortion kills unborn children. Never has abortion paid one bill. Never has abortion made her more powerful. Never has abortion been there in the middle of the night when she cries. Never.

Proabort Pundit, sing your song somewhere else while us grownups are sharing the love of Jesus with the lost and dying. Women come to this facility over her own failure. Their lives depend on a living Gospel, not proabort rhetoric.

Just ask the woman at the well [John 4:4-29], the woman caught in adultery [John 8:3-11] and the woman with the issue of blood [Luke 8:43-48].

HEY! Who's the Parent Around Here??? The Answer is Not What You Think.

What are we teaching our kids? What are we teaching our ADULT kids? Have you made a public profession of continuing to be their parent OR do you think they really aren't paying attention?

Sounds weird, eh? Yeah, I know. But hear me out.

Parents preach what they want from kids but do they actually DO rather than just preach? I've often thought that being a parent is like being a Pastor of a church...or is it the other way around, I wonder. Anyway, God gives us these wonderful little people to love and teach so that they can do the same for their children. Instead, kids react to what they SEE rather than HEAR.

Jesus told us to get the LOG out of our own eye before we can tell our brother to get the speck out if his [Matt 7:3-5]. Excellent advice, I'd say. But few take it.

Then, are parents just a spring of advice or are they doers? Obviously, we should be both. Before I came to Christ many years ago and a parent, I preached all kids of stuff to the kids without backing it up. Most parents do. We see the freight train coming, we feel the storm about to erupt, WE KNOW. But what kids remember is quite a bit different of us parents trying to keep them out of a busy street with cars speeding toward them.

After I became a Christian, ALL of these things became crystal clear. I spoke it, didn't do it, and neither did my kids....then or now. So, I had to get my credibility back as their parent and keep it as a Christian. After all, God is who I have to answer to, ultimately.

When our adult kids do dumb stuff, bad things, or get caught up in another's web, they come out swinging remembering what they thought was 'cool dad' or 'fun mom' instead of the real deal life issues we tried to tackle when they were little. I guess what I'm trying to say is that parents will get the blunt end of everything, we have to persevere, the kids have to redirect their pain and suffering, and in the meantime we have to not be hurt by their disparity or disinterest or disbelief in us. The blame game is getting very old.

Life isn't Nintendo. Remember when a Nintendo game made everything better? Ahhhh the 80's; no smartphones, no computers, no tablets, NO SOCIAL MEDIA! But even back then we left them in front of that game like some kind of cheap babysitter hoping for 'the best'. It made them happy then, but the 'best' came and went and left one heck of a mess.

Just like you and everyone else, I am still parenting adult kids - but this time I'm doing it with the help of God, trusting God, and showing them the love OF God for themselves and their lives.

God is really is the only way to having successful adult kids so they can have their own extraordinary families.

The Parent Ship in the Storm When LIFE Happens

As a Christian and a parent, I have learned to trust God with the big stuff, and not so big stuff. I don't nag, but I will answer a question as I feel God would want me to and back it up with love and kindness. My opinion may not be popular, but then again, I am their parent first.

I'm a results person. In other words, we are HERE now [like those maps in amusement parks say] and after going through getting HERE, only results matter. The way HERE was tumultuous and contrary to my better judgement for them, made me lose sleep, prayed and prayed - and I'm sure that the way HERE made me a special kind of insane. So the fact that I'll have a Godly answer is kind of impressive, especially since I feel like I've aged about 100 years over it.

Complaining now is not only counterproductive, but makes the situation take two steps back when we need a miracle; and miracles only go forward.

Having adult kids is HARD. Did I say it was HARD?? After taking one of my adult kids to the doctor recently, I got this revelation that I'm just his ride there. In other words, the doctor has no legal reason to tell me anything about his appointment. I just sat there quite befuddled and a little hurt. The kids are adults, have children of their own. What's a mom of adults kids to do in these situations? I'll let you know when I find out ;)

God has made a way with us to take care of our adult kids for prolonged periods of time to nurture, mend, love, and just plain help when life gets really HARD. A recent article said that 1 in 6 adults have moved back 'home'. I think it's much more than that. This world had made it very hard for kids to be on their own today. Rent is astronomical, pay is getting lower and lower, student debt is insane, good jobs are sparse, and if they are single parents, quadruple the hardship...at least.

And even though God has made a way for us to be that blessing - the ship in the storm - it may not be so to kids who won't let us. We nearly bought a house to do this, just to be told no at the very last minute. Or they leave too early and unprepared and find themselves broke or homeless, or both AGAIN. They always need money yesterday, no one plans for anything, so when I'm left holding the bag I usually don't have much to work with. I have to start over for them, get back to the basics of life.

I just wish that they wouldn't let it get so bad that it gets this HARD.

Sometimes, that horse won't drink no matter how you try. So, what's a parent to do? TRUST GOD. KEEP TRUSTING GOD. DID I MENTION TO TRUST GOD?

Oh, and keep a light on. You never know when the phone or doorbell will ring.

A Mom is a Mom FOREVER.

Even when they are adults, on their own, we still fret and want to fix whatever is wrong. I'm a mom to a man who has a child of his own...but still his mom. And I want to fix it for him.

It's not about smothering, it's about knowing the path he's about to take and I want to keep him from harm. Is that so wrong? Of course not. I've been fighting for him since I found out I was pregnant over 30 years ago. After losing a child to a coerced abortion in the 70's, I fought for him. You see, my mother tried to force me to abort again and this time, I SAID NO. Even though I had NO plan, NO resources, NO help. I fought anyway.

And I'm still fighting for him, and I will until either my last breath or his. Only death can separate us.

When I see him hurting, I hurt for him even if his choices weren't so good. He's my kid, my son...my baby.

After having him for a few weeks to help him get back on his feet, I know I have to give him back. I don't want to. I hate doing it. I want to stand between him and life on the other side of my front door to shield him. But I know I have to give him back...right into the hands of what hurt him.

I have to trust God with every step he's taken in his life and in his future. God wants him to be victorious, not to fail, and glorify Him in the process. I know this. I mean, I REALLY KNOW THIS. But it does't make it any easier to let him go.

My son was a crisis pregnancy that did not succumb to an abortion. He was meant to be here, he was known to God before the very foundation of the world, and He gave him to me.

God gave me this incredible kid because even in His infinite wisdom, even though He created the entire world and universe, EVEN THOUGH He is GOD, He trusted ME....ME....to entrust this incredible life to birth, to love, to instruct, to be there in the worst of it, no matter what.

God trusted ME. I am forever grateful to a Holy God that would look at a mess like me and determine I am good enough to raise a child I was blessed with regardless of the circumstances.

There are no orphans of God. And not one of us are fatherless because we have a Father in Heaven who watches over....even me.

I'm a Mom Again!

After 15 years of an off and on relationship with my oldest son, he has come back home. Literally.

While on his journey since he's been 18, he has become a heroin addict. Full. Blown. Addict. It was hard to hear, although I knew a little bit about it. We've sent money when they were in a bind thinking he wouldn't spend our money on...that. But they did.

I. Am. Full. Blown. Depressed. I'm physically ill. I'm a stinkin' mess.

My kid, my precious son who everyone liked, and they loved back, is addicted to a street drug that routinely kills men like him EVERY DAY. That's a hard thing to know.

So he is here with us, dependent for everything with us. And even though that should level the playing field, I assure you that it does not. It's more lopsided than ever.

Have you ever been on the other side of addiction? I wish I could say this isn't my first rodeo, but it is not. You'd think I would know the signs, maybe I ignored them...maybe I'm in denial. The one difference between he and I is that I've never been weak with drugs. I never understood the so-called addiction with them. But be that as it may, the elephant is in the room for the foreseeable future.

My head hurts. I cry A LOT. I am discouraged. I'm afraid for my marriage. I'm even more afraid of our immediate financial future. I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO. And then there is GOD.

Like the song says, without Him I can do NOTHING. But this...is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I know all the answers even though he's not ready to hear it or do it or even care about it. Addiction is a very selfish affliction that affects EVERYONE around them, all the time. Addiction is trying to take his life.

What I want to do is mother him. It was a hard thing to take him to a doctor and not be privy to the conversation or visit. As a mom, we take these things for granted when they're little. When they get to be full grown men, I'm just a bystander to the doctors and rehab facilities. What can I do? NOT ONE THING.

PRAY. I have to pray more. I have to trust God more. I have to consider everything differently. Because I'm a new mom again.
